What's happening to my clutch?

I have 126k miles on the original clutch. It's not slipping or anything.
It pulls hard in every gear, including 5th.

But let me try to explain what's happening.
Let's call the point with the clutch pedal fully to the floor "disengaged" (from the engine).
I used to have to let the clutch up maybe 6-8 inches away from the disengage position in order for the engine to connect to the tranny (high off the floor).

The past few days, the engaged position has become much less than that.
I only have to let the clutch up maybe 2-4 inches for it to become engaged with the engine (very close to the floor).

What does that mean?

Or since his descriptions suggests that it happened really quickly I'm wondering if his cable is ready to snap? It seems like a worn clutch would be more slow and progressive... If the pedal starts to get stiff and/or sticky I'd grab a new cable. 30 bucks from autozone or 50 from Nissan. Lube it up and swap it out and then you don't have to worry about it.

I used to hate hydraulic clutches (because mine gave me hell for a while. Now I love them. after I hear these stories

If it were sticky/creaky then you'd wanna replace the cable quick cuz once they snap you're basically broke down. I guess you can drive without disengaging the clutch but it's a bitch to do if you ever have to stop.

But if just adjusting it solved your problem then that's probably all you needed and should be set for a while.

A hydraulic system uses a master cyl. to push a slave cylinder which pushes on the pivot arm and clutch fork to disengage the clutch. A cable uses your leg to pull a cable (I know you push the pedal but you are pulling the cable)that is attached to the pivot arm which moves the clutch fork. IMO a hrdraulic system is more robust, easier, smoother, but it is more expensive. That is why it is put on our econoboxes. As a tip alot of other econoboxes get hydraulic setups (civic, eclipse, not sure about the corrolla), nissan is just cheap.
