Just got in a 2018 Nissan Leaf (non plus), had plenty of range to make a roundtrip from my house. On the way back driving at highway speeds around 70 mph, I was showing 53 miles of range and then suddenly it dropped all the way down to 8 miles or range, I received a "low battery charge now" warning and the car went into limp mode to try and conserve the battery. About a minute later, it started climbing back up and then for the next 10-15 minutes it went back and forth with range vascillating 20-30 miles of range up and down until I got off the highway.
