It's not so easy; You don't have a frame cuz Nissans are unibody construction. I'd go under your car and look at the shift rod and the support rod next to it; They're normally in a bent configuration from the factory, but look hard for any obvious flex and bending. The jolting may have loaded the linkage and hopefully, that's all that happened. If so, You can get another linkage at a junkyard (Not hard to replace); If not...time to send 'er to Nissan Heaven. Best of luck!

Your right and your wrong no the sentra dose not have a stand alone frame but it dose have a integrated frame that if it is not to badly damaged may be able to be straightened for under 4-500 or it may have just damaged the motor mounts the frame shop will be able to tell and if the frame is bent to bad they will save you time and money trying to fix a totaled car.

True: There is an integrated frame up front, designed to accordion-crush upon an accident, to absorb such an impact in a collision and preserve the integrity of the cab just enough to keep people inside of it alive. Problem is: When compared to the intrinsic, practical worth of the car (Age, wear-and-tear, etc.), is it even worth it to try and remedy it? When you get to a point where the shifting linkage ain't what it used to be, chances are there has been enough structural compromise to suggest that something is definitely wrong. Sure, you could fix it, but: Would you trust it again if it happened again?
