Blower Motor Resistor replacement

Do I need to remove the glovebox or any screws to gain access to the blower motor resistor? I only have high speed fan, nothing in between so I am diagnosing this as the problem. I am reading conflicting info, some indicate I must remove some of the lower passenger dash/glovebox and others say nothing. I thought I'd find out what exactly it entails before I pull anything apart. I understand this should be simple. Any instructions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hmmm... I can't remember- and I don't have the FSM with me at the moment. If you just need to pull the center console out, that's pretty easy-- remove the ashtray and the center console center vents carefully, then undo 4 screws, then you can access the fan control PCB.

There's more detailed instructions online somewhere...

If you have only one speed and the off works it is most likely the blow motor resistor. It is a common thing to fail an easy one to replace. (C/P from another post) The way the fan speed works is by linking resistors in a series before the blower motor, when the blower is set on low, power will flow through all the resistors on the switch to the blower motor decreasing the energy provided to it. When the blower is set to high, power will flow directly to the blower, bypassing all resistors, giving full power to the blower, that is the reason why the blower will only work on high, no resistors to decrease power to it.
good luck
