Anybody have Xtrail AC issues?

My 06 Xtrail air conditioner stopped blowing cold air two years ago or so. The green light AC dash button lights up, but i do not hear the compressor kick on.
Now i realize the AC system problems in any vehicle can be a complicated and expensive thing to resolve.
Having said that, i am curious if any of you fellow Xtrail owners had AC problems and discovered a relative cheap and easy repair to get it blowing cold air again.
As a 16 year old vehicle, i do not want to dump any more money into it , especially a very pricey AC repair job. I may keep my Xtrail another year and move onto something ''newer'' or if finances permit, keep the Xtrail as a second beater vehicle/ winter vehicle-workhorse and buy a used compact suv such as a 2016 Rav4.
One thing i will try to kickstart my AC is swapping the AC relay with the Horn relay. It be great if it is as simple as a blown relay.
So anybody have any ideas i could try on my Xtrail based on your own personal experiences with a non working AC?
Again, if it is a simple and relatively inexpensive fix i'd be interested to check it out.
Thanks!

Check for 12V at the small wire on the magnet clutch. If there is 12V, then the clutch may be bad. If 12V is not present, then the air conditioner relay or the thermal protector may be bad. Also check for a bad refrigerant pressure sensor.
thanks Rogoman!

Might just not have enough refrigerant. That's what the sensor is there for. The ECM won't let the compressor turn on if pressure is too low.
hi, yes i had read about that potentially being the main problem. Not sure if we discussed this before, but you think i should take a chance a buy the correct aftermarket AC recharge and see if it refills? I mean, even if it has a slow leak, no big deal as long as i get a few weeks of cold AC.
At this point, if the AC recharge buggers up the ac system, it's an old vehicle and the next used car buyer can decide if they want to fix it or just drive it as is for whatever price point the buy it at.

Canadian Tire has the 12a Emzone recharge kit for $60.
i guess it is a fair price because it is a 25 oz can.
Princess Auto is out of stock for a different brand of 12a recharge kit @ $25 / 9 oz.
Sometimes the ac recharge may need more then the 9 oz's. General PDP Template

this? Security Check

You should probably check the voltage on the sensor before you assume it's low on refrigerant, you don't want to overcharge in case it's a bum sensor. They all have 3 wires, one will be 5V, one will be ground, and one (usually the middle) will be signal. Back-probe it with a safety pun. Even if the system is empty, with the key on you should see a small voltage on the signal line. If the system is just low, you'll see something below 1V. Static pressure around 1V is normal, that would mean it's charged and the sensor works, so something else is wrong. If it reads 0V it's a bad sensor, they almost always fail flatlined at zero.
Santech® - A/C Low Pressure Switch....... is this the part?

That one is a sensor, I have no idea why CARiD is calling it a switch. It fits just about everything Nissan from '00 to '10, so I'd say it's a good bet it's right for your '06. However, I have no way to check, we have zero documentation for Exxies here in the 'States.
thanks for helping me out Vstar.
I watched a canadian youtube Xtrail video on the AC repair. He shows to take off the schrader valve cap on the low pressure and use a flat blade to release some AC.
Well i did that and it hissed for .0005 seconds then went silent.
I'm thinking i may luck out and i just needed a recharge of refrigerant. Going this morning to pick up my online order of Emzone A/C Cool 12a Refrigerant Easy-Fill .
I have a strong hunch i'm just simply out of refrigerant as the vehicle is 16 years old and i believe i am the third owner. No records to show what was or was not done before i bought the truck.

Even a leak-free A/C system will gradually lose refrigerant over time from "osmosis" through the seals and hoses, just like tires will eventually go flat from air molecules migrating right through the rubber. Healthy systems usually need a top-off every 3~5 years. So yes, I'd say there's a very good chance you're simply out of refrigerant.
thanks again.
it got warm and i got too lazy to go pick up the can of AC recharge kit.
But i did ''fix'' the 04 Matrix horn that stopped working a week ago.
I like to start with the simpler things that may have gone wrong such as fuses and relays, poor grounds and maybe just an 18 year old original horn that gave up the ghost.
Turns out the horn wire was not firmly attached under the hood! i'm too blame for that. I sprayed contact electrical cleaner a few months ago and i recall unplugging the horn wire to spray clean the connector metal tabs. :)
i was giddy when i got it honking again at no cost.

The most common causes of broken air conditioning are leaks or compressor issues. If your air is blowing cool but not cold, the problem could be a clogged filter, cooling fan problem, radiator trouble, or it could simply be that you need to recharge your AC.
mine is blowing room temperature, never gets cold. Hoping it just needs the ac recharge.
I have the AC recharge can, just been too lazy and busy with other things.
It is warm here , 30C but with high humidity feels like 35C.
My Xtrail has been parked for 0ver10 months with no insurance so no point wasting the can of AC recharge till i put the vehicle insurance back on in another week.

What are you driving? A bicycle? 🤔
04 toyota matrix.
With frigid cold air that make a penguin shiver.
Remember when we were all chatting what type of vehicle for you to replace your Xtrail?
if you do not need an suv, buy a used Matrix or pontiac vibe. They were built up till 2010.
my next vehicle ( probably keep my Xtrail as the winter beater) if the prices drop back to normal in the next year. The top line GT pictured here had a 2.4-liter four with 158 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. , 4 or 5 speed auto and AWD ...good enough for me! But current Used car prices are rediculous.
