The gear ratios in a CVT are generated in the firmware of the tranny computer (TCM), so if you have the right TCM and firmware in the car and the tranny is healthy, it's pretty much impossible for a "wrong gear ratio" to be happening. Have you scanned it with a good scanner? Most cheap ones won't tell you much about a CVT. If you have a 'Droid phone, a free copy of CVTz50 and a $15 bluetooth adaptor will give you the real skinny for both the CVT and engine.
