Anyone know if the rear brake backing plates are interchangeable between a 4WD 2001 Frontier and a 1997 4WD Hardbody?

not quit sure, but they might. the 97 has the 31 spline axle and the frontier has the 33 spline axle. what are you trying to do? just swap drum brake to drum brake?
The brake shoes are different part numbers as are the backing plates, so I would assume they are not interchangeable.

I was concerned that a backing plate on my '97 4WD HB would need replacing for the truck's upcoming road worthiness test. So, I was trying to find a used replacement as Nissan wants quite a bit of money for a new one.
I had found a dead '01 Frontier locally that was being parted out, but it turns out my backing plates passed the road worthiness test...just.
