My vehicle is experiencing a VSS code 14 fault. My speedometer is working fine, but the check engine light will come on randomly. One question is. How can this code be set before I am even in motion? Doesn't the VSS only provide output when the vehicle is in motion?
Also how can I determine where the problem exists? Since the VSS seems to be working due to a functional speedo, where does the ECU receive its VSS input? Is it tapped from the Speedo?
What other factors are involved when this code is set? What are the chances of the ECU being faulty?
