Hey y'all,
New guy here
My (81 year old) dad just bought an '06 X Trail Bonavista on Saturday
The front of the roof is rusty from rock chips
I want to take the roof rails and cross bars off to do the paint repair
How do the bars & rails come off ?
I believe they are factory but I can't figure out how to pop the coverings off and don't want to break anything

The were two types of roof rails available on the T30s, a smaller regular type and the Hyper-rail, which is more substantial and has driving lights (as Nissan refers to them) at the front. I'm attaching the relevant section of the service manual. Removing the standard roof rail is a bit of work, removal of the hyper-rail is a big job. Obviously in both cases you will have to remove the headlining inside the cabin.

I got the cross bars off and that'll have to do.......I don't want to mess with the headliner.
