Im low on cash and im thinkin of gettin a ealry 90's 240sx but converting it to a silvia. There some things i need to know. First how much does the swap cost including engine wiring, ecu, and transmission. Second i live in Cali where smogging a car is difficult, how people smog there silvias here? Third is the swap reliable or will i break down everywhere. Fourth Do i need to get bigger brakes or fuel management or anything to make the car run the best? Fifth Will the engine be certified if i get it from a respectable place. And thats about it. I keep on askin the people in the silvia room but know one answers the questions. I dont know if there isnt that many people in that forum or what. But in this forum they always get answered.
Peace

If your low on cash, I think you should worry more about getting from point A to point B. Going fast should be the last thing on your mind because speed = money... plain and simple.

there was a good article in SCC about that- how you can buy an early 90s 240 and make it "the shit" for $3000.
the issue is from around may/april 2002. i may have it scanned at home- i'll let you know when I am there.

Don't believe the HYPE. You have to remember that this was SCC going to buy the parts not JOE SCMOE. They got deals to get that project going. The prices have also gone up due to new interests in 240s.

Try www.heavythrottle.com they give you a complete list that puts the swap at 6K without the price of the car.

I would say you should prepare for 8K if not more.

I have a 240 right now. I am prepping for a swap. I have ran thru 8K already. That was just prepping for the swap. The suspension is finally done as well as the clutch and hopefully the rear end.

have you read the article or are you just assuming?;-)
the reason i'm doubting is that the cover says build a silvia for $3000 and it lists all the places where you can get all that stuff.

but u should post the pictures of your vehicle tho!
Dude that issue was the straw that broke the camels back. I jumped into the Nissan fam when I got that issue.

It was the one that made up my mind between the 240 and the Sentra SE-R.

I have been on the forums for a bit of time before that issue. I have read posts that you cannot touch those prices from the same sources they used.

Supply and demand is the game. The demand is high right now. A lot of guys are jumping into the Silvia craze unprepared for the costs.

And if I am correct they just got the engine in there. They didn't do any final body work, suspension, brake or interior right?

Imagine that beater. Fast off the line but can't turn or brake. :D
