Hello everyone! I'm looking to buy a used car and I wanted to get your opinion on it. The car is a 2015 Nissan Altima and its title status is Salvage. It's listed at a price of $12,500

Before I make a purchase, I wanted to know if I should go ahead and buy this car or not. So I'm asking for your help in deciding if this is a good deal or not. Do you think this car is worth the price, given the salvage title? Are there any other factors that I should consider before I make a purchase?

I've also done some research on the car's reviews and features. From what I've read, it has good features, fuel economy, and performance. However, I'm still a bit hesitant to buy this car, given the salvage title.

So I would really appreciate your advice on this. Should I buy this car or not?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Take a look at this thread, it's not for an Altima but it has lots of good opinion and do's-don't's for buying a salvage car.

First of all, know the difference between SALVAGE, R-Title, or R-Salvage.

Titled as SALVAGE, you can't drive it till the repairs are done. That car has plates
on it, and looks like it is on the road, so it is NOT SALVAGE titled, it would be
Revised Salvage. People never get this right.

It is definitely not worth $12,500 with a SALVAGE title let alone a R-Salvage.

I paid $13,500 for a 2016 Rogue SV AWD, CLEAN title.

Now, if the car was a stolen vehicle, then it's fine. When a car is stolen, and
not recovered, it is reported as a total loss. Should the vehicle be recovered
at a later date, even with no damage, it will still get a SALVAGE title because of the
total loss claim. Then when the R-Salvage is applied for, it should have no
problems passing the enhanced inspection.

It is also getting harder to finance and insure them. My credit union would
not finance any R-Titled cars, even hail damage that was easily repaired.
Had my Credit Union financed R-Titled/R-Salvage cars, I would have
a much better and reliable car than this stupid Rogue...
