Hi Guys,
I am very new to this forum and almost as new to Nissans so I am looking to you for help as the countless hours I have spent searching haven't provided what I am looking for.
I picked up a NX 2000 and I am trying to figure out what motor is in it. I pulled the motor to fix hoses, power steering, water pump and some crazy wiring as it was much easier to do out of the car. So.... I ordered up everything I thought I needed and parts were wrong.

Attached are pictures with the motor out of the car. The ECU is marked 4G 23710 5j000 which seems to cross to a SR20VE. But I don't have the knowledge to tell if this is true.
Once I can figure this out, I can pick up the parts needed, get the motor back into the car and fire her up!!!

Thanks in advance for any help,
Bob

Hi, Thanks for the info and the quick reply!
Is there any way to figure out what car it came out of? I bought the coolant hoses for a 1991 NX 2000 (as seen in NX-1.jpg) but they were all different from what was on the motor (much smaller in size).
Is it a hot rod mod to run this the G4 ecu or was the cross over spreadsheet I was looking at incorrect?

The NX2000 came with the following engine options:
To find out what the original engine was, write down the VIN# of the car and go to a Nissan dealer for info. By looking at your pictures, it shows custom headers on the engine that someone installed.

Hi,
The motor in the car was said to be swapped. I think this might be further supported by the purchased hoses being the incorrect size.
Most other manufactures seem to have more information available to tell which motor is which but I can't seem to find anything like this with Nissans.
Thanks,
Bob

Here is the info I found and a picture of the ECU:
WP11 SR20VE ECU
23710-5J000 (September 1997 – September 1998)
Replaced by 2371M-5J000, 2371M-5J001, 2371M-5J002, 2371M-5J003, 2371M-5J004
23710-7J000, 23710-7J001, 23710-7J002, 23710-7J003, 23710-7J004 all replaced by 2371M-7J000, 2371M-7J001, 2371M-7J002, 2371M-7J003, 2371M-7J004

It it a mod to swap this ecu into a standard SR20DE motor?

I'm not so sure you have an SR20DE...and it's very possible you have an SR20VE. Besides having the "VE" ECM, look at the valve cover to the left of the green tape in the picture and it looks like there was a sticker there at one time. The SR20VE has a sticker exactly in that spot that reads, "NEO VVL," like in the picture I provided. The SR20VE was never available in the US, so someone may have picked one up through a JDM engine supplier in the US and swapped it in. Most SR20VE's come out of P11 or P12 Nissan Primeras. Horsepower varied between 187-201 horsepower.

smj999smj,
Buddy, you are amazing. Thank you so much for the help. You put me on the trail which got me to a website with the head numbers (okay, a dozen of the copied from the original site). It is exactly what you thought. a SR20VE. That gave me a list of cars it came in so I can hope to find the correct hoses. It would be cool if I could find out if it is an early or later style motor but for right now, I am seriously happy.
Thanks again,
Bob
