I have a 95 Silvia running a SR20DE. I dont know much about cars, and learning as I go through the problems. My tacho works really weird. When I start it up it sits around 1, which seems normal, but when I give it some grunt, the needle moves to about 1500, then jumps back down. It never goes over 1500 RPM.

EXCEPT, on the rare occassion, normally when its a really warm day and i have been driving on the open road for a bit, then it starts working perfectly normal for a short while, then dies again.

Anyone have any ideas on what the cause of this maybe and how to remedy it? As far as i have got is checking the ECU cables are firmly in place, and checking behind the dash where all the light bulbs are. Im still trying to trace where the tacho gets it reading from....
