okay.....
vvl is almost like vanos, and dual vanos, vtc=single early vanos...on/off, oil pressure controlled, kicks in at about 1750 rpm's, and stays on up until about 6600rpm's gives better pick up but lacks higher end.........i wrote about this in some other thread about intake valve timing...........
