[Spinlock]

Hey guys,

I have a 1993 Hardbody that I'm trying to keep going as long as I can for as cheap as I can. I discovered yesterday that two of the bolts keeping the valve cover on just sit there and spin when tightened; the holes have been stripped. Now it leaches oil (a very, very slow leak) and I'm not sure what to do about it. What are my options as far as getting the holes rethreaded and whatnot?

sometimes u can use a longer bolt and put a nut on the back side..

or tap and die it..or use a slightly larger sheet metal screw..

Thanks zanegrey. After I posted this, I started googling (duh!) and found some references to helicoils and tap and die sets. I found a couple videos on Youtube demonstrating both of them, and I think I'm going to borrow a tap and die set to see if I can clean the threads up.

Be sure to locktite your helicoil in place.....

I had the same problem on my 91 d21, all i had too do to fix the problem is find some slightly larger and a lil bit longer bolts, and they work great...
