Hi everyone,

I purchased a Nissan Rogue 2018 Radio/Nav Display Unit (AIVIP32R0) from a scrap yard to replace my perfectly working Nissan Rogue SV 2016 Radio Display Unit (CQ-FN45E2GX). I really wanted the AndroidAuto and Nav system in my Nissan Rogue SV 2016.

So I went from (20pin and 32pin connectors):

To (20pin and 40pin connectors):

I made a custom wiring harness for the new display unit and installed it in my Nissan Rogue SV 2016.
Everything works fine (Android Auto, navigation, steering wheel controls, auxiliary, etc) except for two things...

PROBLEMS TO SOLVE
1- No buttons illumination.
2- Rear camera does not display image on Reverse.

MY WIRING HARNESS

REAR CAMERA - WHAT I KNOW:
  • On pin 58 of 32pin connector (2016), I am reading 12V on Reverse.
  • On pin 28 and 29 of 40pin connector (2018), I am reading an output of 0V on Reverse instead of 6V.
  • I tried to use pin 19 and 20 from 20pin connector (2016) to power the camera using a 12V to 6V converter. But still doesn`t display image on Reverse...
REAR CAMERA - QUESTIONS:
  • What is the pin 52 of the 32pin connector (2016) used for ? Do I need to plug it somewhere?
  • I saw someone connect the pin 7 of 20pin connector (2016) to pin 7 and 17 on 20 pin connector (2018). Is it really necessary ?
ILLUMINATION - WHAT I KNOW:
  • On pin 9 of 20 pin connector (2016), I am reading 12V when turning on the headlight.
  • I can see voltage variation on pin 8 of 20pin connector (2016) when pressing (+) or (-) on the dash.
ILLUMINATION - QUESTIONS:
  • By connecting the pin 21 and 41 of 40pin connector (2018) to the pin 41 and 42 of the 12pin connector (2016), can it fix the illumination ?
  • Do I need to connect the pin 8 of the 20 pin connector (2016) somewhere ? I heard something about connecting/bridge the ground dimmer to pin 20 of 20pin connector (2016).

I really need your help !
Thanks !

The illumination is now working !
The V-CAN wires of the 40pin (2018) were connected to the wrong connector (2016).
In other words, the pin 21 (V CAN-H) and pin 41 (V CAN-L) must be connected to the pin 41 (CAN-H) and pin 42 (CAN-L) of the connector M77 (2016) found behind the odometer.

Here's the updated version:

As you can see, I updated my approach to power the rear camera, but I still can't make it work.
I don't really understand the pin 52 (camera detection) of the 32pin connector (2016). Is this wire positive or negative ? Is it important ?

If the 2018 radio had 360 camera, can it be a problem if my Nissan Rogue SV 2016 only have one rear camera ?

Thanks !

Yes ! To make it work, I had to buy and install the Nissan Camera-Control-Module (eBay ~70$). So to get the 360 view, I connected the camera (video signal and power) to the module, the module to the CAN, the Ignition wire to the module and connect to output video signal from the module to the Display-Unit. It wasn't working because the Display-Unit was waiting for a "acknowledge" signal from the module (CAN) on Reverse.

I have a 2015 and have tried to upgrade the software in the radio only to be told that even our local Nissan dealer doesn't like to mess with the '15 or '16. It's expensive and doesn't always work. I would love to be able to upgrade our map and have Android Auto with all the functions we currently enjoy. Did you make your own cable or spade connect the wires? If you have any more pics, please post them and thank you!

I am curious I am getting an old 2018 Nissan Rogue radio system on marketplace. My 2016 Nissan Rogue SV is equipped with 360 camera, Navigation touchscreen size and i think almost as same as 2018 instead of Apple carplay/ Android auto and Bose speakers. How I am able to install the radio system in my car? Any suggestions?? Do i also need to change the Pin connectors?
