Hello guys, I am still a newby here even though I have been a member since 2005...here's my question: I, too, have have just put some 18's on but it rubs on the rear area of the wheel well when I turn...the plastic part. It doesn't rub on the body due to coil overs. I have 225/40/18 tires. 1) Is there a way to modify "the plastic part" of the wheel well so that it can enable the full turn radius? Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

to be honest that car wasnt ment for 18's so the only thing that can come from that is nothing but problems... if its not one things its another... but if you wanna keep it more power to you... i would say try to custom design them obviously the stock ones wont work so look for a supplement something that would do the job that you can fold into the shape you want like rubber or get bigger ones from another car and start cutting until you get what you want but my suggestion is get some 17's or 16's then lower the car....

The problem is behind the plastic part. There is a welded seam that is sticking out about half an inch higher than the rest of the panel. It is protruding at the direction of the tire. You only need to turn the steering wheel about 3/4 for the tire corner to hit that. I was surprised to see a 225/40/18 fit without rubbing the shock tower. You effectively countered that with a coil over. We have the same dilemma, I'm stuck with the wheels & tire so I just grinded that seam flush behind the plastic fender liner and have it re-spot welded and primed. The plastic fender liner was secured to the reworked surface using plastic locking pins. I got an additional 3/4" side clearance from the grinding and hammering and that was enough .
