Trunk Open Warning Light & Won't Lock

The gen1 Rogues didn't have a power liftgate available, all the versions use an identical release actuator. If it won't close at all then it's possible the cam got rolled to the lock position with the hatch open. Take a screwdriver and push on the cam, if it rolls back then rolling it back all the way till it clicks may be all it needs. If that isn't it, then you probably have a bad actuator (yes, it's the part located inside the hatch).

My fault, I miscommunicated. I mean it opens and closes and the latch mechanically works. But when the hatch closes, the liftgate open warning light stays on. So because it thinks a door is open, it won't let you lock the car remotely. The fob unlock works but to lock it I have to use to key in the door or push the lock button on the door. So what tells the car when the hatch is closed? I checked all fuses under hood and steering wheel. And something drains the battery within 24 hours or so of it sitting even with a new battery. Alternator is putting out 14.4V. The cruise control is acting up as well. Lemme know if you can think of anything.thanks
