I've got a 1995 Altima GLE, automatic.
It turns out I need a new tranny. After searching and shopping around, I found a guy with a manual trans in his 95 Altima that he took out and rebuilt. He said he'd sell me the trans and all the parts for a swap for $300 since he's a friend of a friend. How much am I looking at in labor costs to swap it out with mine? Either that, or I found an automatic trans with 65k on it for the same price, easier swap since it's an auto too. What am I looking at for each swaps, in labor?
I know dealerships are pricey, I just want a ballpark figure before I go do that.
It's either swap one out or rebuild my trans, or sell my whole car

If it was my car I'd put the auto back in. A used one with 65K still has a lot of life left in it. Swapping to a manual seems like a lot of work unless you absolutely want a manual instead of the auto.

Make a few calls around to tranny shops and have them give you an estimate for a swap if you provide the tranny ... only real way to get an accurate cost.
