My 95 240sx se has 150,000 miles on it. And its an automatic. When starting off from a standstill the cars moves off fine but in its intitial shift automatic shift it jerks , the shift from 1-2 is not smoothe but rather abrupt. The rest of the gears shift smoothely with no jerk or abruptness.

This happens about 80% of the time. Is this something i should worry about . Its been doing it since 135000 miles , when i bought it. Or is this just a charateristic of the 1-2 shift in the automatic transmission of the 240 sx

Also can i expect to get 250,000 muiles out of my motor if i treat it right or do these motors fail at a certian limit

It must be a normal thing many people ask that question and mine even does it and it only has around 98,000 on it it shifts smoothly if revs are around 2K and stready not increasing fast that is about the only time mine shifts smoothly and I never though any think anything about it you should be able to get that mileage out of it if you have the transmission serviced(flush and fill) every 30k miles or so. If you want thing to last a long time you have to take care of them.

It's normal. I bought my 91 new and it's always done it.
