Heya, just found these forums and have read nearly every post in this b12 section. Nice to know there are other owners of these darn cars.

I have a quick question:

I own a '90 with the ga16i and 5speed tranny pushin 145,000+ miles. Now this is going to seem rather elementary and a little stupid, but

where the hell is the transmisson fluid fill plug!?

I have looked high and low for that little sob! I've recruited the help of many of my car mechanic friends and we just cannot find the thing. I know a lot more than the average person about cars and mechanics, but this is just embarrasing. I need to check my fluid and add more if possible. Since I've had the car I've gotten rather sticky gear shifts. Feels like a little too stiff.

Please help me out on this if you can, it'd be much appreciated to know something so simple and not bug the heck out of me anymore! Thanks and keep these little crates runnin!

It's on the front of the transaxle, just above the bracket for the side transaxle mount. You'll use the square shank of a 3/8ths ratchet wrench to loosen it. You'll have to remove the plastic splash shield to get at it.

You may also have to gently heat it with a small torch. My was REALLY hard to get off.

Heh, took me about two seconds to spot it once I was under there. Fluid level was fine, but it smelled a little burnt maybe. Anyone think I should do a flush? Thanks again

Do the flush, it costs almost nothing and adds life to your tranny.
