I was reading about the problems shifting in the Spec V SE-R and wondered if its also a known problem for it to make a slight grinding sound in the GXE model Sentra when shifting into 3rd and 5th. It's not a constant occurrance though. I'm still trying to figure out exacly when it happens. Anyone know anything about this at all?

grinding? like as in not having the clutch all the way in, or as in a slight buzz that you can barely hear when i gear?

At the moment all I can suggest is to take your car to the dealer if it is still under warranty. Make sure that your clutch is still good, and that you are shifting properly. But definetly take it in.

push that clutch all the way to the floor ;)
It's not the clutch being pushed in or not. I know THAT much because is also does something similary when I try to shift into reverse. Sometimes it just doesn't engage the gear at all. The shifter will be in reverse but it's like the tranny just doesn't realize I put it in reverse or something. Sometimes I have to let up and push the clutch 3 or 4 times before it will engage. But with the reverse it doesn't grind.

omg i dont know whats up with that, but i do know nissan put a not so good tranny in the sentras, hopefully its still under the 60k warranty, cuz i blew a tranny bearing, and it was making that high pitch noise when runnin in gear, thank god, it was covered under warranty, cuz my bill would have been 3200.

Holy christ I sure hope that doesn't happen to mine. It's still under warranty though so I should be fine (Maybe I'll look into having it rebuilt with a better gearing...)
