wath i usually do is taking the resistance on it for the idle switch... with TBI close you should read 0 resistance on it until like 10 to 15 degree of tb rotation... under this the car will stumble a bit when releasing the throttle (but thats on my car)... tackle with it a bit and run the car ... place it where you feel the car runs better and idle right.
What you need to do is: Disconnect both connectors from the TPS and set up your ohmmeter on the #2 and #3 terminals on the top of the TPS. Start 'er up and let idle. Then, watch at what RPMs the continuity goes from infinity to zero: It should be between 900-1200 RPMs for manual and 820-1120 RPMs for auto. If not in spec, loosen the two screws on the TPS, adjust, retest and repeat as necessary until within spec, then reconnect both connectors. Hope that helps!
