I changed the oil on my car this weekend. I had read somewhere that the oil capacity in the SR20 was around 3.7? or 3.8? quarts but I completely forgot and put in all 4 quarts that I had bought. Ever since, my car feels heavy when accelerating. My question is if you guys think if there will be any critical damages done if I keep driving with all the oil or if it really doesn't matter. Thanks.

Yes, check the dipstick.

Going .2 or .3 quarts over the top fill mark should not produce a noticeable negative result.

One of the problems associated with over-filling a sump is that the crankshaft and balance weights will churn in the oil causing it to foam. Oil with air bubbles produces inferior lubrication and can take thousands of miles off your motor's life.

But in my engine, the QR25DE, that already happens as a normal occurrence and there seems to be no ill effects.

So, it depends, depends, depends. Let us know what you find (give us a measurement on the dipstick in inches or millimeters) and what you do.

Which oil, especially which weight, did you use?
