hi, i own a 89 240sx. my car overheated about a week ago and have been trying to change my thermostat the last two days. I know that the thermostat is on the lower hose of the radiator and you follow it up to the elbow. my problem is i can get one bolt off but i cant reach the other. Should i be taking my belt off or no????? i have only taken off what is necessary so far since i am a novice at working on cars. i have only taken the piece that connects from the airfilter off. please someone help me. i would appreciate it so much. thank you for anyone who is willing to help a novice out

There are three bolts that fasten the thermostat cover to the head; they are easy to remove. There's no need to remove anything else.
