I am not sure what we are considoring abuse.

Is abuse only letting your needle go into redline?

Or is it abuse also going full throttle but shifting before the redline?

Also, is it hard on the engine to take first gear higher that 3000 rpm (normal throttle pressure) to complete a normal left turn from a traffic light?

this is not your normal 4 banger. for instance my 200sx has a redline of 7600rpm and produces most of its power above 6000 rpm. The qr25de produces over 150lbft of torque at 2200rpm which makes the car drive more like a v8. Take offs are tricky I do not launch over 2000 rpm or I just spin the tires. Turning while taking off is ever harder remeber this car has lsd so it drives different than most front wheel drive cars. (abuse) do not hit the rev limiter its not good for the car, you can go full throttle but use caution and do not drive like that all the time.:p

If your car is in the recall, you will get a brand new floor mat. I got one, and it is very nice! It does not slip or anything. No interference, no worries!

It should only take 10-15 minutes of your time if you are included in the recall. I was not, but had the symptoms of it. So I bitched about it.

I have had several problems w/the service dept, and am considering taking my service needs elsewhere, but that is another story

I switched dealers to get my service done also but I am a little pissed because I was at the new dealer about 2 weeks ago and they did not do a check on recalls for my car. Now my car has potential damage from the stuck throttle plus it made for quite a dangerous situation.

I am thankful that I was not in a panic situation where I need throttle control. I was able just to slow down, shut of the ignition and figure out what went wrong, it could of been worse.

Thanks for the info, cortrim1.

Back to the orginal question, do you think anything specifc might have happened when the throttle got stuck and I was bouncing off the rev limiter while clutched and in neutral for about 5 seconds?

If could have but most likley your car is fine. When the rev limiter kicks in it cuts off your fuel which is not the kindest way to do it but very effective. I would check my oil once a week until you hit 7500miles or the car stops using oil. I have hit the rev limiter a few times my car is ok and has never used any oil.:p

your welcome

Its important to note that you hit the rev limiter in Neutral... thus under no load, that is not such a big deal. Even hitting the rev limiter while driving is okay once and a while. The more important thing is that the motor is broken in first.

Side note: i think the rev limiter cuts spark not fuel, if it cut fuel youd get detination due to 'gas' in the chamber and no fuel to be ignited by the spark.

to the person who got "new" floor mats in the recall, your were not just cut at the top? the so called new ones i got were cut at the top.

Blackout, I got a new drivers side, because the old one kept slipping. I then found that the top had been cut. I didn't think that was a very appropriate fix, as it didn't fix anything, so I fought to get a new replacement. It took several hours of my time, and 3 trips to the dealer, but I got it. My mat hasn't budged since I got the replacement. The origional slipped constantly. As soon as I got in the car, it was out of place.

that is correct, the replacement is not cut. It is the same size as the old one that has been cut, but the boarder continues across the top, and looks very nice! not cheap like the cut ones.

I think that is a really cheap and wrong way to take care of a problem. If they had to cut something to fix it, they should have replaced it to begin with!

So the border goes around the whole mat and it is the same same size as the old one. Is there any other differances, is it a differant shape by the pedals? Does it attach to the post any differantly?

Why does this one not move and the old one did?

other than the obvious cutting of the mat, the 2 mats are identical. Maybe the spikes on the bottom are different, but they look the same from the top. I do not know why the first ones slipped, but they did. I also don't know why the new ones don't slip, but they don't.

I went to the dealer and saw a new mat that was ordered for another customer. The mat had a smaller diameter ring opening so that it will fit more snuggly on the post. Hopefully I will get mine tomorrow from another dealer.

If for some reason they say your car is not listed as affected by this recall you should note that most dealers don't give you the floor mats that came with your specific car. They don't keep the floormats in the cars so they get mixed together.

I got a new car, not listed as affected, but a dangerous floor mat.

bbpf,

Don't let that keep you from getting a new mat. Just because the dealer says that you are not effected doens't mean that you are not. You may have better luck at the dealership you purchased your car from. Hang that "you'll never see my money again" over their heads and they will sing a different song. I had to get the salesman involved before the service dept got off their ass's and helped me.

Anytime you have a service record printed out, Nissan sends you a survey. Make an appointment to have your floormat checked out by the service dept. They get paid in a couple of ways, one of which is the survice survey they send out. I let 'em have it on the one when I got my floormat. If they get bad marks on the survey, they don't get paid.

The dealer I am working with at the moment is working with me and may just claim it to nissan as a warrenty replacement instead of a recall. I just have to wait for them to recieve mats because they have none in stock.

The dealer I bought the car from scraped one of my rims pretty bad during a wash and it took forever to get the money from them. So I go to them as a last resort.

I also opened a file with nissan consumer affairs.

If you guys don't know the number you guys should all call it and report that paint problem:
