i've tried bringing this question up in related threads but never really received an answer. so, here goes:

other than installing a level 10 performance transmission (which is on my list of mods to do), are there other ways to strengthen an automatic transmission (fluids, etc.?). if so, let's have 'em.

and, no flak please from all the manual owners. don't tell me i need to switch the tranny. that isn't the question i'm asking...

i saw the DIY tranny cooler install at the project sleeper website. think it'll do any good? i know most auto trannys fail due to excessive heat...

and i've been good about changing my fluids. any other ideas, though?

probably that's your cheapest and most efficient bet... increase the stall speed of your tq converter... other then that there you start pouring in the big bucks and you might as well get the level 10 then... Valve body shift kit... things like that...

the project sleeper website looks like it's outta commission. any one know where to find a good set of instructions for a tranny cooler install? i know where to pick one up but has anyone had any experience actually doing an install like this?

A tranny cooler is a great mod to prolong the life of your auto trans. I haven't installed one yet but it's on my list. I've been using Mobil 1 ATF for the past 9 years however, and my tranny is still in tip top shape. This stuff works really good, i change my tranny fluid once a year no problems so far...

ok I meant one person PM me if you need instructions... hey this is a pretty simple thing to do. if you don't mind getting a bit dirty and you have the right tools you can put in a tranny cooler in less than 2 hrs if even that. just follow the instructions, all you need to do is find the return line for the tranny fluid from the bottom of the radiator, you can miss it, it's above your shift linkage, kinda to the left also. read the instructions on the box and if you don't understand then and you're really stuck on something THEN pm me... thanks!

hayden tranny coolers

so, i've put in a request for a hayden tranny cooler. is this a good buy? for those of you who have put in tranny coolers, what brand did you go with?

i'm planning to do the install over the july 4 weekend. if anyone is local (so-cal -- orange/san bernardino county) and is interested in seeing how this little experiment goes, feel free to pm me.
