The car is a 1991 sentra with a manual transmission, when the problem began it was just a little tough to shift, I know the transmission mount needs to be replaced but it got tougher to shift aside from that, then one night it started making a strange almost grindy sounding whine (similar to dropping an automatic into park while the car's moving) whenever I tried to drive it foreward, when the towtruck driver went to move it into position behind his truck it made the noise and I noticed that the passenger side wheel hopped and seemed to be trying to turn backwards. it seems like what happens when the car is off and left in first, with the wheels turning opposite directions, but it shouldn't be doing that with the engine running and trying to move foreward. I guess my question in part is how does the car make the wheels turn opposite directions when it's parked but not when it's running because that seems to be the problem.
