i got some coil overs for my 1998 200sx se. The sleeves are not wide enough to fit over the tiny bronze colored peice on the top of the strut. Can I get rid of this peice by bending cutting or grinding it off/away or would that break a hole in the strut and cause the air to leak out? I dont have funds for new struts so if i could make these work it would be great. Also, are the front and back struts identical?

will the coilovers fit on the rear without needing new struts?

Yes, you must grind the top collar of the shock body to fit the threaded portion.

B14s Sentras don't use struts in the rear.

I don't know if this is what you are mentioning but ....
The tiny bronze piece you are talking about has a notch under it. Almost looks like you can get a screwdriver in there. Well, with a rubber mallet (I used a pretty small one) and knocking it evenly all around it should come off. Just be careful. When your done slide it back on and use the mallet to secure it down again.
