Questions

Been looking at doing a SR20DET swap, then went looking around,found out about the SR20VE. Anyone have any experience with this engine, or now any one ? What it redlines at, Found a site where its under $2000, just wanted to know if this would be a better swap. the site says it's as easy as a SR20DET swap ? any imput would be helpful. Thank You

the sr20ve is a great engine.the vvl screams like crazy more vtech. i know because one of my friends swap in one in his nx2000. with i/h/e sr16ve cams,flywheel,msd ignition,ecu, he almost ran a high 12 all motor on street tires and any extensive work. it redlines at 8000 rpms. it bolts right onto your tranny. for finding, i know 1 person that sells it. its andreas miko (famous sr20 tuner in miami,fl). he's on sr20forums.com. also theres a 1.6 version of sr20ve,the sr16ve. its a good engine also but i never experienced it before. it doesnt have alot of power like the sr20ve, but still packs a punch with its vvl.

Thanks so which motor would you swap in? I have looked everywhere found that the SR20VE is said to put out 220 hp. Yea I was reading about the SR16VE also but haven't found out what price range it's in or antone that imports them yet, it's said to produce 187 hp, don't know if either is Crank HP or Wheel HP, anyone know what the redline on the SR16VE is. This website WWW.JGYCUSTOMS.COM is where they sell the SR20VE, there's also a pic under SE-R/G20 in there menu, in this catagory under VVL at the bottom there's a sentra with the tach at 8500!! dont know if it's a SR20VE or a SR16VE heard the Sr16VE redlines at 9000!!

Most people with VE's modify their ecu's redline some have them with no redline at all.

The SR20VE is 187hp, not 220. The SR16VE is 175, and they don't redline at 9k. Without changing out the springs and retainers, you will break something by taking it to 9k. I have an SR20VE in my NX, and my redline is set at 8000, but I don't really go past 7800.

It is a great motor though, I've had both, and the VE is loads more fun than the DET, but thats just my opinion.

People who get the ecu done like that use the MSD digital 6 which has a rev limiter on it. The reason for that is with different cams you can raise the redline up a bit.

Funny how no one told him about the FAQ VE thread......

Also, check out the http://www.sr20forum.com/ , they have loads of people who sucessfully swaped. Most of them running SR16VE cams, I'm still reading into it so not exactly sure why they do that, just a vauge idea.

well chimmike have you ever swapped in a sr20ve? and the torque is SIMILAR to a honda? thats a mockery to guys with sr20s .damn you need to do some research and know what your saying.

those numbers are all similar to vtec hondas. the VVL in Nissan doesn't make GOBS of torque like the non-vvl SR20 or turbo SR20 makes.

I don't need to swap one in or drive one to comprehend power figures. On the same note, whose car have you swapped it in, and what's their SN on the forums?

Where's my BS? Hmm? You're the one not posting any facts. I can't imagine how you get away with BSing your way through life like you do on here. :thumbdwn:

i helped swap one in on my friends nx2000. he's not part of the forum. he's in another forum. chimmike your comments and post are similar to a ricer. you cut down on people's opinions and talk alot of garbage. seriously if you have something negative to say, stop being a smart ass and dont say or post nothing at all.

thanks serban. but i believe yours made more tq though. thats what i thought.
rule#1. never compare hondas torque to sr20s torque.
