If you have an SR20DET without the ignitors, is that a problem?

What can you use instead?

Any junkyard options?

So is this not an issue or no one seems to know?

I don't have my engine at home so I can't check, but where would the ignitors be and what would they look like?

I don't remember any unfinished wiring harness, but then again I don't specifically remember anything that caught my attention as an ignitor.

Should be near the firewall plug in the harness

Thanx, that tells me everything so that I can see if I have the ignitors.

Now what if I don't?

Will the ignitors from another engine fit or will I need to special order something from Japan?

if you dont have one i have herd that you can use one from a 300zx however you will have to work with the wiring due to the 300zx has a 6 bank igniter chip as aposed to ours that are 4 bank( one bank for each cylender). so basicly you just hook it up using only 4 banks and leave the other 2 banks disconected.

storey

ps: i thank the infinty j30 uses that same igniter chip as well.

Cool, now I know it's not a big issue. I had read a post by someone that made me think it was the end of the world.

I don't get to go to the shop until next Friday so I will check to see if I have them or not at that time.

Thanx everyone.

You can have your ECU re-programed to use a distributor, but, its not worth it.

Just go buy a 1st gen Q45 ignitor and your set.

actually, it was a big deal just until about a couple of years ago. 240sx weren't very popular and people didn't even know what "drifting" was. even back then, we had a couple of hard core nissan enthusiasts that were importing ca's and sr's and rb's. back then, importing stuff was a big deal and it was a lot harder to do then it is now. when you received a motorset / clip without an ignitor chip, that meant a couple of weeks till you could even start the car. nowdays, you can get them everywhere.. even the price dropped about a 100bux..

a little OT but just FYI :D
