Guys, need some advice. I have an N14 Pulsar SSS being prepped for a charity race event (24 hours of LeMons). History of the engine is not well known and the clock shows 300,000K's.

Runs nicely and it looks like it's been well maintained. No smoke and very smooth. It has a slight knock at idle. It's coming from the front of the engine loudest around the water pump. Louder when it's cold and disappears above idle. Pulling each plug wire in turn doesn't affect the sound. At this stage it doesn't sound like a death knock but some hard driving may change that.

I'm not overly familiar with these engines, is a rattle/knock usual for these or have I got a time bomb?

Any help greatly appreciated.
