Well, I'm doing my part to spread the whoopin...

My first post to this board...I hope to contribute better info than this, but I have to share this little encounter I had last night.

I have a 91 SE-R w/ a DET swap, set up completely sleeper style, with the stock B13 wheels (AD22VFs underneath), Swain-coated BBE coating on the IC, and an inconspicuous-looking GReddy exhaust and a couple of gauges. Low profile.

The Type R (a yellow one, yellow = fast!) and me line up at a stoplight and he looks over at me, points to the empty road ahead of us to let me know he wants to go. I figure ok, it's late, no traffic, why not.

Light goes green, he nails a perfect launch and jumps 2-3 carlengths in front of me. I take an easy launch, ease into the throttle in 1st, start spinning the wheels at around 6k, shift into 2nd at that point, completely pass him in 2nd gear, and I am 1-2 carlengths on him by the time I shift into 3rd.

He flashes his high beams to admit defeat and pulls up next to me completely shocked. Completely taken by surprise he said. He was a cool guy...hopefully he'll think twice when he sees another SE-R. ;)

Good Kill

that is the most satisfying feeling, when an opponent has a superiority feeling and they get humbled by an innocent looking Sentra :D :)

Nice kill. And how did you get the AD22s to fit under the stock SE-R wheels? And I agree, the sleeper look is what it's all about.

I borrowed a die grinder my girlfriend's dad and went nutso on the calipers. I still have to repaint them, but they fit without rubbing and that's what I really care about.

Luis Molina commented later on that night that my car looks just like the 1991 SE-R sales brochure. I'd have to agree. ;)

Actually. there are some smart Type R owners that know when they don't stand a chance. The Type R is over exaggerated just as all hondas are. They don't stand a chance against any car carrying the SR20DET. Just think, honda's new sports car line is the RX200 and the S2000 in which I've thrashed them both and not afraid to do battle with the NSX as well (I'll pack a lunch that day). Excellent spanking!! Stay Nissan/ Stay anti-rice..

If i had a choice between the SR20 and the type R. I would choose the type R, no questions asked. I know i would probably be flamed for this but its only because the Type R is the most sought after 4 cylinder import. Now a SR20DET, thats another story. I would be all over those 235 HP.

i personally really like the type r alot. i also own a spec v.
i have raced a type r (yellow) when i lived in vegas. i had a 99 se-l with trust, cai,pop,s3's,hs gen 3 and the race i had against the type r was very very close every gear he would pull me then i would come right back (as he fell out of powerband) if it werent for his shitty launch and my rare stellar launch he would have most definately beat my ass. but my 2 car head start out of the whole even with my mods only gave me a bumpers length win in the end. on another note ive seen plenty of all motor classic se-r's beat up on type-r's but you have to have a well breathing sr20de to do it. i feal a spec v with intake exhaust could probably take a type r too. because my spec v feals a tid bit faster than my fully bolted on sr20de did.
