Comparing the 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V to the Hyundai Tiburon Base Model, I believe that the Spec V would be the favorite to win, Plus, Nissan has a load of features, and better build quality than the Hyundai. Plus the reliability is there as well.

Here are some HP/Torque/Displacement/Weight figures to munch on:
Tib: Horsepower @ RPM [email protected]
Tib: Torque @ RPM [email protected]
Tib: Displacement (cc) 1975
Tib: Curb Weight [MT] (lbs) 2940

SE-R: Horsepower @ RPM [email protected]
SE-R: Torque @ RPM [email protected]
SE-R: Displacement (cc) 2500
SE-R: Curb Weight [MT] 2708

Though, if we are talking about the Tiburon GT V6, then it could be a closer race.

Tib: Horsepower @ RPM [email protected]
Tib: Torque @ RPM [email protected]
Tib: Displacement (cc) 2656
Tib: Curb Weight [MT] (lbs) 3015

SE-R: Horsepower @ RPM [email protected]
SE-R: Torque @ RPM [email protected]
SE-R: Displacement (cc) 2500
SE-R: Curb Weight [MT] 2708

Though basing my judgement on the +5 HP that the Spec has, and also judging by the lighter weight, I think that the Spec V would win, either way, though with the V6, the race would be a lot closer.

stealth just said it all. Tho remember, it is a hyundai, and they have confirmed that they have been overstating their power numbers for the past few years.

I thought the new tib's came with 180 hp stock v6?

My uncle bought 1 and I really like it...

I also like the interiorof the tib over the spec v... but if I had a choice I would take the spec v... couldn't fit my two car seats in the back of a tib.:D

Not really because they got one hell of a warranty with their car.:)

I'm not a big hyundai fan and my first and only love for performance will always be nissan, but I do drive an Elantra (everyday) and I'll be damned if it's not reliable. And I have put my foot in many a sentra, civic and accord's asses with my elantra. Don't knock it until you've tried it and if it's not your flavor, you'll never know what lurks under some of those hoods;)

Or if you really want a Tiburon with Nissan reliability and durability, swap the motor!

Ha, yeh it'll be a bitch and itll cost a shitload, but just imagine,
1.) get an old SE-R
2.) sell the SE-R motor and transmission
3.) get an Tiburon
4.) sell the motor and transmission on your new tiburon
5.) with the money buy a JDM SR20DE (hell maybe even a SR20DET) and transmission
6.) Pay for the swap, brackets, mounts, and shit
7.) You have one hell of a Tiburon. Nissan Power :D

or, just buy an SE-R...... new one
but i do like the body styling both inside and out of a tiburon
