Rotten strut wells

Hi,
Here's the problem, the base of the 2 front strut well was pretty rusted, and yesterday it ripped =(
I can now clearly see inside the engine bay from outside. There is now a huge weakness in the part of the frame that holds the strut, and I would believe that this part of the frame has bent enough to lower the front of the car a couple of inches.

My questions are:
Did this already happen to somebody?
What would you do in order to fix it? (buy and grind off a old strut well form a junkyard?, weld new metal sheets over it?)
I will post pictures as soon as I have a camera.

Thanks in advance

Let a good bodyshop repair the strut wells!

Maybe you should have posted this in the Sentra section? I will assume those are the low points of the car. It seems expensive to me for what it is and the shape it's in. I would offer half to a third of that amount, and figure it needs twice the repairs I think it needs. Mind you, you havent exactly made a case for what is special or good about this one, and the pics sure do not do it justice. Good luck whatever you decide.

If this is an R50 Pathfinder, Nissan issued a recall for this issue about a year or two, ago. It should be covered if it is.

With all of that rust and corrosion, I would stay clear of it and look for something else! It's definitely not worth $1500! I wouldn't give $500 for it!
I heard good things about the 1994 versions of these cars, but you're right. The car would have to be totally redone due to the shape of it.
They were very good cars...as were Datsuns...until the body rotted away! A lot of things on a car can be fixed, but once the chassis rots through, it is expensive to fix and not worth it unless the car has some collectible status. Keep searching and good luck!
