Never...umm...wait...what are you talking about...oh wait I remember...those thingies that you see on the roofs of station wagons and Stupid Utility Vehicles...I have no use for them. I tie annoying little kids to the roof directly, forget the rack, I won't give them any conveniences!

I've got a Thule roof rack that I put on for carrying my bike. But, I usually take it off when I'm not using it. But, sometimes it'll stay on for a month or two. Right now though, it's sittin' on the floor.

I have a skirack for the winter, but it comes off when there isn't anything attached to it.

No actually! The roof rack on my B12 is made by Thule. It connects to the chrome raingutters that run the length of the car above the doorframe. It uses rubber clamps and has absolutely no effect on the paint (it only touches the painted body on the inside of the rain gutter). Its also on there pretty solidly, I use it a few times a week to haul a kayak around with no issues.
