i was thinking of removing my resenator completely, it'S all broken up in peices inside making ugly vibrating noises, will this affect an emission test? known as an air purity test?, and what does a resenator do in the exhaust system?, i heard it makes the exhaust more silent?

Removing the resonator will not affect the emissions. However the exhaust will be louder and you may end up with a droning noise inside the car at highway speeds.

droning noise as in realy low pitch vibration or humming sound? if so will a performance resonator be a better option? instead of straight through piping?, and stock 1990 240sx exhaust piping is 2.25 inches right?

The droning would be a low pitch loud humming. A performance resonator is quite smaller then a stock type; both types are straight through. IMO, I'd just install a stock type. Stock piping is 2.25" OD.

ok thanks, well i finished putting a peice of exhaust straight through with stock muffler and the sound is just amazing i took it on the highway at 140+ and i did not hear any humming watsoever, i will keep this setup till next summer when i do an sr20 swap instead of my ka24e

Good, I'm glad it worked out for you. Without a resonator, some cars end up with droning while others are OK.

When you go with an SR20DET, hopefully you'll go with 3" exhaust piping all the way.

ohh yes i will i alreay got my eye on an apexi ni dual cat back system, i got my mechanic picked out, and my engines on a list of wich one to pick red top or black top still not too shure on wich to choose from.., i hope to become a more active member and post pictures, few shops told me i got the best shape 240sx around here and i was very pleased with thsi comment lol
