The exterior weather stripping on my rear side windows is dry-rotted. I've been told by a dealer that I will have to buy a whole new window assembly to get the gasket. Is this right? Anyone else have this problem?

Mine is all dried up, but it's not on my list of things to fix. It's the rear drivers side of mine. I hate washing it because it feels like it rips more of the stripping off, but it doesn't so I'm not worried about it. Is yours really that bad?

It's not falling apart or anything like that. It's just all dried up and has a very rough texture.

FYI, the guy at Pinnacle Nissan( a good online source for discount Nissan parts) concurred that the gasket and window come as an assembly only. Their price is $68. My local Nissan dealer quoted more than double that price!
