I'm looking to swap a RB20DET silver top with 5spd tranny. I was wondering what the do's and dont's were to doing one. I've seen and heard of very few of these but heard they were awesome. From the people that have done it they said they had to modify the core support and shorten the driveline 3". Any other advice will be greatly appreciated

Agreed, the SR20DET is a much better choice. It's an easy drop-in as the motor mounts are in the same location as the KA24. However you'll still have to go with the SR20 wiring harness and ECU. It's a very popular swap; lots of articles and lots of high perf parts. The RWD Nissan Silvia and Nissan 180SX produced in 1991 were built with a longitudinally aligned SR20DET, so the front clips are readily available.
