Raspy snapping like noise from exhuast??

1206 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ebricenojr
Over the weekend i got a ticket for modified exhuast being too loud so now i need to fix it. Budget has been preventing me from fixing but now i got the money. My question is what do i need to do to get rid of that noise. I was thinking about a magnaflow street series 14814 or 14829 to replace the cheap fart can on the back but would that get rid of the noise our am i gonna need like a high flow cat or resonator. Im in florida so there is no emissions. Any help here??? Thanks

one thing you can do

put a cherry bomb, or similar glass pack on
that quiets it down a bit

Yeah, you should put a resonator on if you don't have one. That should quiet it down a lot.

SO changing the muffler is not gonna do anything for me? Or should i change the muffler than get a resonator. Its a bomz racing muffler on there. Im tired of sounding like an Honda. I need this noise to go away. Thanks... Anyone know who makes a decent resonator for our car?
changing the muffler will make a difference
try getting one with a larger canister (something like a magnaflow)

but adding a resonator or glass pack will quiet it down and significantly reduce the raspy tone

You can get a cherry bomb at your local autozone, Pepboys, and any other big chain auto parts stores. They are pretty cheap $20-40. They come in different lengths. You want to get the longest one that will fit inline with your exhaust.
Just have your local muffler shop install it for you. Shouldnt be more than $40-60 for the install.
Magnaflows are good, I'm in MIA and I know about the loud "HONDA" noise...that's what every car sounds like down here...except for mine. Mine is quiet and I believe it's the Magnaflow, so people have told me.
