Hi all,

New to forum, I have a '02 4 cyl 2wd, 96k miles, and it rocks, I use it mainly just to haul around my dirtbike.

I need the torque specs for the valve cover. If anyone has them I'd appreciate the look-up.

The question is my mechanic told me he heard a little bit of timing chain noise and he recommended changing the timing chain since, according to him, it's not uncommon on the frontiers for the timing chain to go loose and rub a hole through a coolant channel, or create some such other havok.

Has anyone else heard of this or had this problem?

This is the reason I'm opening up the valve cover, to take a peak and the chain and inspect for wear.

Any advice or help appreciated, thanks!

69-95 in-lbs. Start in the center and work your way out when torquing down.

That being said, you're prolly not going to be able to see anything wrong from the top. If it is a tensioner, the front cover needs to come off, which is much more difficult and time-consuming.
