Sorry of this is a duplicate post my other one has not shown up.
Yesterday and today I changed the water pump and timing belt on our 3.3L 98 pathfinder. When I was getting ready to take off the old belt I could not get the marks to line up. I figured if nothing moved then it should be ok and proceeded to take the old one off. While putting the new belt on the right sprocket ( looking at the engine, not sitting in the drivers seat) popped counter clockwise) I moved it back to where I thought it had been and went ahead nowing it may not work.
Well it runs now but sounds like a small tractor so i know the timing is off. I searched and nothing I can find says how to redo it if the marks are not lined up. Do I just rotate all of the shafts by themselves without the belt on and line up the marks?
