My power steering belt tensioner seized up and fried my belt. I have a 95 Nissan D21 KC 4 cyl . It left a heavy residue on the power steering pulley.
2 questions
how do I removed the residue ?
And
I tried today to replace the tensioner got the tensioner bolt off and the nut at the front of the pulley but can’t get the pulley off. It’s very loose. What else do I need to do ?

You may need a pulley puller to get it off.

Most likely, the bearing went out in the power steering pump. You might have to replace the whole assembly.

You can remove the residue on the power steering pulley with lacquer thinner. Your best bet for the tensioner pulley is to use a gear puller to remove the pulley and get a new one from:

So I ended up taking off the bracket that holds the pulley on. I than put it in a vise and drove the bolt out with a hammer.
got most of the residue off with lacquer thinner and a wire brush.
belts back on and all is good
