I did some searching of the forum and I came up with three possibilities as to whats happening. i need a little help to figure out how to proceed.

1. the chrome trim over the top of the windshield is really messed up. 1/3 is missing over the drivers side and the pasenger side is pulled up and hanging loose. There is a messy looking rubberish gap underneath. I would like to get a replacement trim for the windshield top and install it. I believe the parts 72811 and 72825 and some clips are shown here:

Does the entire windshield need to come off to solve this? Is one of those parts the chrome and the other a rubber seal? Do people normally have windshield replacement specialists deal with this type of issue?

It has been fairly dry here, but the PO washed it just before I picked it up yesterday. It seems odd that the water would travel way down to that point before leaking, but maybe.

2. the PO was running the AC when I picked it up. It seems like the water is coming off the right side of the bottom of the large plastic box under the dash. The plastic box has some foam molding seals and those seem to be soaked. I am thinking the water may be condensation from the AC. The water is cool and seems clear. In some other posts someone mentioned a blocked AC drain hose. Is there a resource describing how to get in there and clean that up?

3. Other forum posts mention heater core issues. I believe the water is clear, doesn't seem to smell like coolant, and it's definitely not warm. This leads me to hope this isn't the problem here.

One last question, is this the most active online community for HB owners?

the black box has the heater core and evaportor in it. one of 2 things, either the heater core is leaking or (most likely) the drain tube is clogged. just clean it out and problem solved. to clean, best way is to open case (have a plastic bag going into a pan or something to catch water) and clean out any debris that is in there. if you look at the firewall from the eng. compartment you will see a rubber tube about a 1/2" in size that angles down about 2". be careful not to shove stuff into the tube.

you shouldnt have to remove the windshield to do the trim.

there are several forums for HBs...
