Ok, so I'm back in blacksburg for school, and I havent been able to work on my baby at all. I'm really worried about rust. I have the motor in the car outside with the exhaust and intake sealed with rags, electrical tape, and plastic...but i'm worried about the cylinder walls accumulating surface oxidation. It's my first time fully preparing an engine, so I really don't know what to expect. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is rust going to kill me? I've sunk too much time and money into this project to screw up now. Do I need to rush home and do something to stop the rust??

P.S. -- 40's make me paranoid..

Love,
Daniel

40s??
If its years I should be paranoid too...
Just drop some oil through the spark plug holes and rotate the engine a few turns with the ignition disconnected
Easy way of getting peace of mind ;)

Ditto that. Just make sure those cylinder walls have motor oil on 'em. Should help.

My dad's a Master A&P and he uses those really kewl desiccant-filled fake spark plugs to keep moisture out of the cylinders. If only they made 'em for cars...
