Can anyone familiar with the B12 Autotranny help me figure out whats up? I was under the impression that the auto had 3 gears, plus reverse and thats it. I could prove this by autosticking it and counting exaclty 2 jerks (shifts). this last week though when im cruising around in drive i count 3 jerks. The first 2 come at their normal spots, 1st-2nd at about 40km/h, 2nd- 3rd at about 80, but then there is a third on at like 82. It comes right after the 2nd-3rd shift.

Anyone know whats up with this? My friends are telling me thats its overdrive kicking in, but i didnt think that i was packing OD.

OD is just the gear ratio. The output shaft is spinning FASTER then the input shaft. What is happening is that your torque converter is locking. That's a good thing It improves gas mileage and power to the road.
