Hi, I've just recently had my manifold and turbo flange gaskets replaced on my SR20DET and since then I believe my car is running no better, if not worse than before. My current engine has been fully rebuilt about 4 months ago with forged pistons. It has an exhaust system, Blitz BOV, Intercooler, Hiflo Cat, Dump pipe and HKS Pod filter.

Since having the gaskets replaced I can smell burning in the engine bay, there is oil around the tip of the BOV and just the sound of the engine when I'm driving seems to be rougher. Does anyone think that this is a result of faulty repairs or just coincidental and it is due to something else?

I will soon be installing mods such as at Garrett GT2871R turbo, manifold, splitfire coilpacks, Tomei injectors, hd clutch, flywheel and an apexi power fc. So if the problem will be fixed by these new mods then I would prefer just to use my money on that, rather than repairing old parts.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure you're right. After driving the car today I've noticed more oil finding its way out of the BOV and spraying on to various parts of the engine bay, which must be the cause of the burning smell.

Fingers crossed the new mods will fix the issue.
