Hi All,

I have a 99 Sentra 1.6 and I was doing an oil change a few days ago and I had a heck of a time getting the filter off. At first I thought the previous owner must have had it screwed on too tight, but when I finally had the first 1/8th turn after about 30 minutes and a beer it seemed like there was something wrong.

Long story short I got it off and was putting the new one on and it was extremely hard to put on. I called around and cross referenced numbers and the filter I had was for sure the correct part number and the threads look immaculate. I checked for sand and grit and there was none. I put got it all the way on but I am not looking forward to getting it off.

Is it possible that a previous owner changed out the part that the oil filter connects to? Any other explanations?

I have seen a lot of effed up threads in my day and I have to say everything looked good. It was a constant resistance on, and off, no jumps or clicks. It was almost like one of the threads was metric and one was standard, but they were close enough to 'kind of' work.
