Hi All,
I have a 99 Sentra 1.6 and I was doing an oil change a few days ago and I had a heck of a time getting the filter off. At first I thought the previous owner must have had it screwed on too tight, but when I finally had the first 1/8th turn after about 30 minutes and a beer it seemed like there was something wrong.
Long story short I got it off and was putting the new one on and it was extremely hard to put on. I called around and cross referenced numbers and the filter I had was for sure the correct part number and the threads look immaculate. I checked for sand and grit and there was none. I put got it all the way on but I am not looking forward to getting it off.
Is it possible that a previous owner changed out the part that the oil filter connects to? Any other explanations?
