I notice everyone once in a while that I get this really bad smell in my car, like a diesal exhaust smell. I notice it only when I have my heater on and the upper vents turned on (the farthest left button the climate control). Is it because I have a K&N filter that needs to be replaced or is the intake just picking up the odours in the air? Is there a seperate intake for the heater core or is the air fed from the one intake on the right side? Anyhelp would be awesome.

P.S. check out the sweet nismo floor mats on ebay!

if you have the air flow set to recirculate then you will eventually develop an odd smell with the heater on. if you have the air flow set to outside air and you have a bad smell it might be your hood seal. the fresh air intakes are behind your hood where the windshield wipers sit. so if the hood seal is bad/damaged then the engine bay air could be getting sucked into your fresh air intake vents. hope that makes sense :)
