Nitrous system

I bought a spec V a few weeks ago and had planned on saving up and purchasing a Turbo Kit, but I don't think I'd be able to swing it any time soon. I'm considering putting in a Nitrous System. My local MotorSports shop quoted me a Nitrous Xpress system with all the safety features so that the nitrous only engages at the proper rpm's ect, and installed at a little over $1700. I've been searching the internet and a company called Zex puts out a kit with about the same features for much cheaper, but it doesn't specifically list the spec v as one of the kits. Plus I would also have to pay more to have it installed as I didn't purchase it at the shop. I was hoping you all could give me some of your opinions on nitrous systems for the spec v. I don't want to spend too much but if it comes down to it I'd rather spend more to make sure I'm not going to do any major long term damage to the car.

NOS

I would look for a company called NOS too. They have a pretty good system that in theory (neat thing about theory, in theory everything is perfect) is designed to be run in stock engines. Not sure how much difference there is between engines and Nos set ups though, never ran it myself, probably won't. I personally only believe Nos to be good for 1/4 mile and drags. Anyways, back to the NOS brand system, it was like a 50-75 shot (or some such) and the base system was around $500 dollars. Not sure about rev limiters and all that computer controlled stuff in nos systems, or how good they work. The NOS brand was suggested to me by a guy who works at Autozone, he said its what he runs in his honda. Thats my 2 cents worth, I expect change since its not much.

Thanks for the suggestion, I looked up some systems by NOS, seems about the same price and setup as the ZEX one, both engage at full throttle. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and get the NX system with the features that cut on and off at specified RPM's, its more cash but the guy going to do the install seems confident it'll be the most effective and less damaging system. I'll let you guys know how it turns out when I go to the dragstrip Wednesday.
The nx kit is very nice you should be able to run in the low 14's with a 50 shot if you can get a good launch.
THAT SEEMS A LITTLE PRICEY FOR A KIT. I HAVE A NOS KIT ON MY TURBO RX7(ONE OF MY FIVE CARS!) AND IT WORKS GREAT. THESE SYSTEMS ARE REAL EASY TO PUT ON. IF YOU TAKE A LITTLE TIME AND READ ALL THE DIRECTIONS YOU COULD DO IT YOUR SELF. 1200 FOR LABOR IS A LOT. JUST TRYING TO LOOK OUT. I HATE TO SEE PEOPLE GET TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. ANY HOW BEFORE YOU HAND OVER 1700 TO SOMEBODY BE SURE TO DO YOUR HOME WORK.:)

its 450 for labor, although that may be a bit much too. I'm not very mechanically inclined so I'm not sure I could pull it off.
YOU DONT HAVE TO BE THAT INCLINED IF YOU CAN READ DIRECTIONS. BUT IF YOU DONT FEAL SAFE WITH THAT IT PROBABLY IS BETTER TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT. JUST MAKE SURE THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING ! I HAVE HAD ALOT OF PROBLEMS WITH OTHER PEOPLE TOUCHING MY CAR. HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUT FOR YOU THOUGH!! AND YOU HAVE TO LET EVERBODY KNOW HOW MUCH FASTER IT IS!!
